Matt

Matt has been writing music and lyrics since he was 15. A life long student of music, he studied Jazz guitar under Steve Sherman and studies cello under Saskia Tomkins.

Matt's music career has brought him to such venues as The Phoenix Concert Hall, Lee's Palace, The El Mocambo and The Horseshoe Tavern as well as many venues in South Western Ontario.

Matt's playing reflects a spectrum of influences, including Lenny Breau, Kurt Cobain, Tommy Emmanuel, Joe Pass, John Coltrane, Robby Krieger, A Tribe Called Quest, Gillian Welsh, Elliot Smith, Lou Reed, Rob Baker and many others. A blend of fingerstyle, jazz and folk, Matt's playing is ever evolving.

Matt's lyrics are a reflection on his attempts to find the beautiful in everyday life. A lifelong storyteller, the lyrics he writes represent both glimpses into his life and the life of others, through his lens.
